Rhode LDES

Rhode LDES is a long-duration energy storage project located at the Rhode Green Energy Park in County Offaly. The project will use innovative CO2 based energy dome technology to store electricity during periods of low demand and release it back to the grid when it is most needed.

With a planned capacity of 376MWh (8hrs) and an output of 47MW, Rhode LDES will provide flexible, zero-emission storage that complements Ireland’s growing renewable energy mix. Developed on the site of the former Rhode peat-fired power station, the project supports the Midland’s transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future while delivering investment, skilled jobs and long-term community benefits.
